How to Use YAML to JSON
- 1.Paste your YAML Paste the YAML content - single document or multi-document with --- separators.
- 2.Click Convert The tool parses the YAML and outputs the equivalent JSON.
- 3.Review the result Check that types (especially booleans and nulls) converted as expected.
- 4.Copy the JSON Copy the JSON output to use in your code or tools.
YAML to JSON & JSON Developer Standards
JSON is the standard format for web APIs and modern applications. Using the YAML to JSON helps you check syntax, catch formatting errors, and keep your data clean and readable.
Zero-Server Security
All data entered into YAML to JSON runs directly inside your browser sandbox. Nothing is ever sent across the network or saved on remote servers.
Clean & CI/CD Ready
Well-formatted JSON prevents runtime syntax bugs, makes code reviews easier, and ensures smooth API data exchange.
YAML to JSON Frequently Asked Questions
What YAML features are supported?
The converter handles the most common YAML features: nested mappings and sequences, multiline strings (block scalars), anchors and aliases, explicit type tags (!str, !int), and comments (which are stripped in the JSON output).
What happens to YAML comments?
JSON does not support comments, so all YAML comments are stripped from the output. The data content is not affected.
Are YAML anchors and aliases supported?
Yes. YAML anchors (&name) and aliases (*name) are resolved before conversion. The resulting JSON contains the full expanded values, not references.
What happens with YAML's yes/no/on/off booleans?
In YAML 1.1, yes, no, on, off are booleans. In YAML 1.2 only true and false are booleans. The converter uses YAML 1.2 by default, treating yes and no as strings unless quoted.
Can this tool handle large, complex JSON payloads?
Yes. Because the tool operates directly inside modern V8 JavaScript execution engines, it easily processes complex multi-megabyte payloads containing thousands of nested keys with negligible latency.
Are my proprietary payloads or secrets stored or cached?
No. BeYourTools implements zero tracking, zero telemetries, and zero database persistence. Everything stays strictly inside your browser memory and disappears the moment your tab is closed.
