Timestamp Converter

Staring at 1729185600 and wondering when that was? Convert Unix timestamps to readable dates - or dates back to timestamps.

Leave empty and press Now for the current time. Seconds or milliseconds are detected automatically.

Date to timestamp

Pick a date and time (interpreted in your local timezone).

Private by design: This tool runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type or upload is sent to a server.

How to use Timestamp Converter

  1. Paste a timestamp. Seconds or milliseconds - the tool auto-detects which (10 vs 13 digits).
  2. Read the date. See the full date in your local timezone and in UTC, plus relative time like '3 hours ago'.
  3. Or go the other way. Pick a date/time to get its Unix timestamp in both precisions.
  4. Use 'Now'. One click fills in the current timestamp.

Timestamp Converter Features

  • Seconds/milliseconds auto-detect
  • Local timezone and UTC display
  • Relative time ('in 2 days', '3 hours ago')
  • Date picker for reverse conversion
  • 'Now' button for current timestamp
  • Copy any value in one click

Timestamp Converter Frequently asked questions

Count the digits: 10 digits is seconds (until the year 2286), 13 digits is milliseconds. The tool checks the magnitude automatically, so you can paste either.
Both: your browser's local timezone and UTC. Toggle between them - servers and logs usually want UTC, humans usually want local.
32-bit systems store Unix time in a signed 32-bit integer, which overflows on 19 January 2038. Modern 64-bit systems and JavaScript (which uses milliseconds as floats) are unaffected.
A single number is unambiguous: no timezone confusion, no format debates (MM/DD vs DD/MM), and trivial to compare or sort. This tool translates them back into human terms.
